Mary Helen Straker was born in Iowa, but grew up in Zanesville, Ohio. After graduating from DePauw University, she worked on the staff of a New York magazine, Two to Six, the Zanesville Signal, and The Seattle Times. Her work has been published in several editions of A Cup of Comfort, Marriage, St. Anthony's Messenger, and other family oriented publications.
